Village Oaks Elementary School Delivers Unused School Furniture to Needy Novi Families
NOVI, Mich. – School is in session at Village Oaks Primary School in Novi, but what school looks like for every child is different.
Novi Community School District’s assistant superintendent of academics, RJ Webber, said 55% of students learn virtually and 45% use a hybrid model.
Tyler and Max Piculu are elementary school students and they learn at home. Angie Piculu is their mother.
“Basically they can do it all on their own which is great because I also work from home,” Piculu said.
Their home learning situation has improved a lot with a recent delivery. They were given desks and chairs. Their mother said it was nearly impossible to find children’s desks and chairs like the ones they will be receiving on Thursday.
“We waited and we waited and the order was delayed and then it was finally canceled,” said Angie Piculu.
That is why the Novi Community School District hired a moving company to bring unused school furniture to families in Novi who needed it.
Angie Piculu said her son’s teachers have done an incredible job. She believes having the right learning equipment will only make things better, especially at a time when the learning situation is different for every child.
