Saint-Vincent Catholic Charities Seeking Refugee Support

St. Vincent Catholic Charities is a wonderful organization right here in the Greater Lansing area.
Saint-Vincent spends countless hours not only providing a safe haven for so many children in this region, but also for many others who are in need of food, health screenings and more.
With so much going on in Afghanistan these days and the uncertainty of where many people in this region can get help, this is where St. Vincent Catholic Charities comes in.
According to the Lansing State Journal:
In 2016, Saint-Vincent helped resettle more than 900 refugees. The 94% drop between that year and 2020 was in part due to the coronavirus pandemic, but also followed several years of former President Donald Trump limiting the number of refugees admitted to the United States.
As you know, there are refugees here in the United States who are very concerned about their family members who are still in Afghanistan.
Now it all comes down to whether there is enough housing to care for the 50 or so refugees arriving in the Lansing area.
And more and more refugees will come here in the coming months in search of a place to live and for their next meal. The Catholic charities of Saint-Vincent are simply asking all of us to welcome the Afghan refugees once they arrive and to lend them a hand.
The Lansing State Journal adds:
St. Vincent is a designated refugee resettlement agency and works with a federal program to coordinate support services for newcomers. The agency has resettled adults and families in the region since 1975. In total, the organization has assisted around 17,000 refugees from 53 different countries.
