North Dakota woman dies in car crash near Tower City
A Bismarck woman was killed in a horrific accident last weekend.
Something horrific happened in North Dakota last weekend. PA News reported that a 43-year-old Bismarck woman named Kelli Hagerott was killed when the vehicle she was in struck an abandoned maintenance truck on Interstate 94 near Tower City, North Dakota . Three others, Tim Hagerott, 42, and a 9- and 14-year-old boy were seriously injured and taken to hospital in Fargo.
The abandoned maintenance truck was reportedly left in the traffic lane.
What’s so disturbing about this life-altering accident is that the abandoned maintenance truck was allegedly left in the right lane off the highway due to a mechanical problem. We don’t know many details about the abandoned truck yet, but how scary is it that the vehicle was allegedly left in a lane of traffic?

Something similar once happened to my father. Years ago there was a snow storm lasting several days which made travel nearly impossible. My dad is a truck driver and drives about 30 miles to work, one way, every day. And he had to work despite the weather. On the second day of the snowstorm, he had a serious accident thanks to an abandoned vehicle in a traffic lane.
Part of the stretch of Highway 83 my dad drives to work is two lanes. And the day he left in the blizzard, both of those freeway lanes were covered in snow. My dad drove over what he thought was a snowdrift when all of a sudden he hit something solid. His truck flew away and overturned on its roof in the ditch. Fortunately, my father was close enough to his friend’s house that his friend could come and help him.
My father was in pain but he had to wait at his friend’s house for hours because no help could get to his friend’s house to take him to the hospital. When the storm ended, my dad went to the hospital where he found he had a broken back. He was also informed that there was an abandoned vehicle in the driving lane at the start of the storm. In addition to this, a semi-trailer rammed the car the day before. The tractor-trailer driver and my father were lucky to survive these accidents.
