Golden Nuggets: What’s the difference between NFC West after the first few days of free agency?
There was a flurry of free agent signings on Friday night. Dontae Johnson, although on a minimum contract, was signed in front of a trio of starters from the 49ers secondary. There are some great players available who are counting to get a lot of money in the market. Kenny Golladay is a name that comes to mind. I imagine former Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller will soon be making double-digit millions.
28. EDGE ALDON SMITH
Smith’s return to the NFL is one story of a miraculous comeback after a four-year absence in 2016-19. While he wasn’t quite the superstar he was with the 49ers, he still generated a 70.0 rating playing at least 40 snaps in every game so far in 2020 – a testimony of its conditioning. He’s been moved all over the defensive front, and his 50 presses tell a better story than his four sacks, because he was a solid passer when he returned to the NFL.
Contract analysis: Arguably the most impressive aspect of Smith’s comeback is that he didn’t sign a veteran’s minimum contract, negotiating a deal worth up to $ 2 million in Dallas. At 31, Smith has turned out to be a different type of human, and a final pay as a veteran will be a great ending to his story.
Prediction: Two years, $ 15 million ($ 7.5 million APY): $ 10 million total guaranteed, $ 8 million fully guaranteed at signing.
“It was low-key and salty,” Ebukam said with a smile. “He was like, ‘Damn, when I go, you come.’ He was really happy for me to say, “It’s definitely going to match your energy and who you are.” It’s kind of unfortunate that we missed each other here.
While Ebukam could miss his former teammate, he revealed that joining Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw influenced his decision to sign with the 49ers.
“It was huge,” Ebukam said. “Just to play in front of them, how they play and what I saw in the movie is something that I really want to play alongside. It’ll motivate me to make sure I’m always on my feet. guards.
Taylor tore his ACL against the Minnesota Vikings in the first game of the season and missed the last 15 games of the year. He has only played three games in total in the past two seasons due to injuries. In 2019, he tore his biceps in training and missed 14 games.
The Packers restructured Taylor’s contract ahead of the 2020 season, and he used the second opportunity to land a starting goalie position during training camp. A knee injury after 63 snaps in Week 1 ended his comeback season.
He will be 32 in November. Taylor has started 50 games for the Packers since the 2015 season, including three consecutive seasons as the team’s starting left guard.
If the 49ers don’t sign him, Taylor could still be a candidate to return to Green Bay as an experienced depth for inside the offensive line.
Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders were available for, apparently, low costs. The 49ers chose not to prosecute them or convince them that this was the place for them.
Trubisky signed with the Bison Tickets under a one-year, $ 2.5 million contract. There’s no reason the 49ers couldn’t have matched or surpassed this price if they were serious about improving their back-up quarterback position. Instead, the 49ers are now engaged in conversations with Joe Flacco.
Sanders also signed a one-year contract with the Bills for $ 4.625. The 49ers could have structured a deal to save a few dollars in salary caps. Sanders would have been a good choice as the No.3 receiver to support Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
Finding the depth of the backstroke in the 2021 draft – 49ers gold mine
Javian Hawkins, University of Louisville
With undrafted free agents, the key is finding traits that result in success in a particular pattern. All of these players will have issues, be it size, strength, production or injury history. However, players with problems can be successful if a plan is in place for them to take advantage of their strengths.
Hawkins, for example, is the elite in space. It has the speed, agility and vision to navigate the terrain with the best in its class. He was a dynamic player who could contribute both as a running back and as a returner. Its problem is its size and its lack of contact balance. He struggles to maintain balance as the holes close and isn’t likely to break many tackles when the defender places both hands on him. With a schematic that can take a player into space, however, you just need a player to find that space and move through it quickly. Hawkins can be that guy.
Report: Seahawks to bring back RB Chris Carson – Field gulls
So Chris Carson is coming back. And for fans who are clamoring for the Seahawks to get aggressive and take advantage of a salary cap that is expected to rise significantly in 2023 and beyond, this is an interesting development.
Basically Carson will be back for the next two seasons and he can hit free agency again before he’s 30, and the Seahawks have finally gotten aggressive and have plunged into the next few years of cap to get there.
Free Level 1 Agents
Adoree ‘Jackson, CB – Perhaps the best corner corner on the market, Jackson has played well and could be a great choice for the team as the new leader in the cornerback room.
Richard Sherman, BC – The Cardinals desperately need the help of a cornerback and Sherman can always play in the right pattern.
The Rams did not add an exterior free agents, but saw three defensive starters land in new pitches and must also replace their longtime longsnapper and tight end number two. Replacements for Johnson, Brockers and Ebukam could all come internally. As for Hill, a corner may need to be signed.
Obviously, the Rams have traded for a new starting quarterback and even though it did happen in late January, it shouldn’t be left out of the equation that solves what the team has been up to so far this year. the LA Rams Matthew Stafford added this year.
Josh Reynolds, Austin Blythe still haven’t signed.
