On July 19, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi answered questions on relations between China and developing countries during his meeting with the press and Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane. Lamamra in Algiers.

Wang Yi said that 50 years ago, when a resolution submitted jointly by Algeria and other countries was adopted by an overwhelming majority in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, the large number of developing countries “brought” China to the UN, which is a striking illustration of the solidarity and cooperation between China and other developing countries. The purpose of my special visit to Algeria is to relive the experience of the common struggle, and to express once again my warmest thanks to Algeria and to all the other friends from other countries who have resisted the pressures, supported justice and strongly supported China.

Wang Yi pointed out that China and other developing countries have always “been in the same trench” over the past 50 years. China has met the high expectations of developing countries and kept the promise made at the UN and the Security Council that China’s vote in the world body belongs to the developing world, and the developing countries. development have never been absent to support China’s core interests.

Over the past 50 years, the number of UN member states has grown by 65, the vast majority of which are developing countries. We gradually approached the center of the international arena from the auditorium and emerged from being passive latecomers to actively take on leadership roles, which strongly promoted the historic process of democracy in international relations, a multipolar world and economic globalization.

Over the past 50 years, we have replaced confrontation with dialogue, resisted power with solidarity, independently explored the path of development and advocated mutual respect among civilizations, which have become new engines of human progress.

President Xi Jinping stressed that no matter how far we have traveled, we must not forget what we have been through. It is with the help and support of other developing countries that China has come this far. When poor and lagging behind, China tightened its belt to support other developing countries. Today, China, which is accelerating its development, will contribute even more to the well-being of developing countries. China will always be a member of the camp of developing countries, breathe the same air and share a common destiny with developing countries.

Wang Yi pointed out that as the world faces profound changes unprecedented in a century, China will unite more closely with Algeria and other developing countries, will never give in to power and will not back down. never in the face of difficulties. China will resolutely defend the principles of sovereign independence and non-interference in internal affairs, oppose hegemonism and power politics, protect the legitimate rights and development space of developing countries. China will also insist on finding a greater voice for developing countries and improving their representations in international governance. China will promote the common values of mankind of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom, practice true multilateralism and jointly build a community of destiny for mankind with developing countries. development.

Lamamra said China is a representative of developing countries and non-aligned countries and a partner of African and Arab countries. If China plays its role effectively, international relations will become more democratic and the world will be more balanced. The Algerian side expects China to play a more important role in the Security Council and the UN.
