Armie Hammer quits Paramount + ‘Godfather’ filming series amid scandal – deadline
Hammer was scheduled to play producer Al Ruddy in the 10-episode series based on his experience on the Paramount movie. Apparently the series now needs a lead.
This is the third project Hammer has left following a social media scandal two weeks ago in which salacious messages, allegedly from him, were spread across the internet. January 13, Hammer got out the movie Lionsgate Hunting rifle wedding. Josh Duhamel is in talks to replace him in Jennifer Lopez’s film.
We then heard the same day that Hammer had quietly left the star-studded cast of Gas lit, the Watergate series produced by Sam Esmail for UCP, which also stars Julia Roberts, Sean Penn and Joel Edgerton. The hammer got attached to Gas lit in February but had a scheduling conflict with The offer. Its role in Gas lit is being redesigned.
The actor said in a statement following the Hunting rifle wedding departure: “I don’t respond to this bullshit but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a movie in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate supports me in this task and I am grateful to them. “
Paramount TV did not respond to several Deadline requests regarding Hammer’s departure The offer.
Variety got the news first today.
